
Dr. James Salerno
The Foleck Center Associate Dentist, Dr. James Salerno, has dedicated more than four decades to the field of dentistry, bringing extensive experience, compassion, and commitment to patient care. Born and raised in Niles, Ohio, Dr. Salerno began his educational journey at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Elementary School before graduating from Niles McKinley High School in 1976. He went on to earn his undergraduate degree from Hiram College in 1980 and later graduated from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry in 1984. Following dental school, he completed a General Practice Residency at DePaul Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia, in 1985.
Dr. Salerno began his professional career as an Associate Dentist, where he practiced from 1985 to 1990. In 1990, helping lead the practice for 30 years before selling it in 2020. Since January 2020, he has continued his passion for dentistry as an Associate Dentist at The Foleck Center.
Throughout his career, Dr. Salerno has remained actively involved in the dental community and continuing education. He is a proud member of the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, Tidewater Dental Study Club, and Seaboard Study Club. He is passionate about staying connected with advancements in dentistry and collaborating with colleagues to provide exceptional patient care.
Outside the office, Dr. Salerno enjoys collecting, driving, repairing, and restoring vintage Italian automobiles, along with classic American muscle cars from the 1960s and 1970s. His impressive collection currently includes seven vehicles. He also has a love for cooking authentic Italian cuisine, a passion inspired by his mother, whom he credits as his greatest teacher in the kitchen.
